It that time of year, the weathers getting warm, the rain has stopped. Well, kind of the weather in California has been super strange this year. Any who, I am hoping that the weather finally stays nice. I love to BBQ! It brings back so many memories of my grandpa. My grandpa always BBQed for the family and now that he passed, I try to keep the tradition going with some small changes. One of our favorites was BBQed Baked Beans.
As many of you can tell by my name, I do not really eat sugar. I am not diabetic, but my grandpa was and it made me aware of how much sugar is in our food. So instead of BBQ sauce loaded with corn syrup, I swap it out with Sugar free or no sugar added BBQ sauce. Honestly, It’s not bad. I would definitely recommend trying it.
One of my favorite things to make alongside the meat is BBQ baked beans. Beans are full of fiber and protein! And this recipe does not have any of the added sugar that a normal baked bean recipe would have and with a few low calorie, lower fat swaps this make the best guilt free side for any occasion.
