Hello friends! Can you believe tomorrow is the Fourth of July! This year has just flown by! Fourth of July is always a fun holiday for me. Ever since I was a kid my family always celebrated with swimming, food and fireworks. I can still remember my brother, sister and I swimming until it was dark enough for fireworks which always seemed like forever thanks to the summer solstice which makes it dark later.
I still tease my sister about burning me with a sparkler when we were kids. Its all about making those core memories.
I want to make those same memories with my kids! But I also want them to understand why we celebrate for those who don’t know Independence Day or The Forth of July marks the historic date in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress. The 13 American colonies were tired of being ruled by Great Britain. They wanted to become their own country and that’s when we gained our independence hence the name. And because of the passage of the declaration we are “free” today.
Of course i’m going to keep the tradition alive we are going to bbq, swim, eat snacks and light fireworks! I wanted to keep some of the snacks lower in sugar so that way we all can partake in goodies! So here are three lower sugar snacks fun for kids and adults of all ages.

First we have a delicious and refreshing drink for everyone! All you need is Fruit punch Crystal Light packets, Starburst Sugar free blue raspberry drink packet and Sprite Zero. Whipped topping and sprinkles are optional but a cute touch!
First your going to want to make packets according to directions,
pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen place them into clear cups (this makes it look more appealing because the kids can see the different colors.) and just pour sprite over the ice cubes. Not only is it cute but the flavor goes so well together.
Next is a Red, White and Blue chocolate covered strawberry using Lilly’s no sugar added white chocolate and blue sugar sprinkles. While this is not 100 percent sugar free it is still a better option. First you want to melt your chocolate at 30 second intervals making sure not to burn it. Dip your washed strawberries into the chocolate and then into a bowl of blue sugar sprinkles let cool and enjoy!

Last is a Star-Spangled fruit Kabob All you do is Layer blueberries and marshmallows until you almost reach the top. Then you take your watermelon and cut out star shapes with a star cookie cutter. and place the star on top and you have a delicious treat the kids are sure to love!

Remember to have fun and stay safe!
