Hello friends! It’s Memorial Day! A day to remember all who fought and died for our country. It is also the unofficial start of Summer!! So, what better way to keep cool on the 1st unofficial day of summer than with a cool treat like a frozen yogurt covered banana. Of course, we added red, white, and blue sprinkles!
This is an easy, fun recipe that the kids can help with. My kids are off today so this is a great opportunity to have fun with the kids and talk about why we celebrate Memorial Day.
Did you know that Memorial Day is always celebrated on the last Monday in May! 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees. The same law also declared Memorial Day a federal holiday. It was a day to celebrate all the men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country.
But back to the snacks ;
Here is what you will need:
– Bananas (I used 2 cut into 3rds)
– 1 cup nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt to dip bananas.
– Fun sprinkles
What is cool about this recipe is so versatile. you can use any kind of yogurt flavor and switch up the sprinkles. Maybe a strawberry yogurt with pink sprinkles for Valentine’s Day or add a spooky twist and add eyeball sprinkles. The options are endless.

Memorial Day is also a day that we like to get the family together and BBQ and spend quality family time and make core memories. Do you guys have any Memorial Day traditions?? Also, remember to stay safe!
