I don’t know about you but as a mom of four rambunctious kids, everyday someone is getting hurt. My girls are like little tomboys, and they like to play rough. My son is always getting knocked down by either his sisters or the dog. It’s never ending! So, what’s a mom to do? Well, for one I have a never-ending supply of band aides and two I try to keep an ice pack in the freezer at all times!
I used to buy ice packs you know the kind that have little beads in them but somehow, they all mysteriously “pop” and have little gel beads everywhere that my kids love to play with. I have to keep reminding my kids that they are not Orbeez. It’s funny because somehow all their stress balls seem to pop as well. Hmmm. wonder how that happens?
Anyway, I have learned not to purchase them when I can just make them myself. I learned this hack in Medical Assisting class and now am going to share with all of you. So, you too can have these on hand in your freezer. They are so easy to make and just take three everyday household items. I technically used four, but the glitter is optional.
Here is what you need:
1 cup rubbing alcohol
2 cups water (this is dependent on the strength of the Alcohol if using 70 percent then its 1:1 ratio)
Ziplock bags. These can be reusable, but I find zip locks to be more pliable.
Next you just combined the ingredients and freeze. Remember, these will never become solid because the alcohol doesn’t freeze.
I would also like to mention that little kids should have adult supervision when using these. I hope you find this to be helpful!
